I am the winner of the Revere Institute Scholarship for Beaders! My scholarship includes a
3 day class, travel, hotel and $100 towards a kit for my class.
I have elected to take a clasp making class (2 days) and a class in Marketing, both are in mid-March, 2012. I can
hardly wait to learn at this well know jewelry academy!
Sig has been designing unique patterns for beadwork for over 20 years. In
the early days, earrings were her focus. After growing tired of the size limitations, she went on to
design amulet bags. One of her designs appeared in the first book written on Amulet Bags: Beaded Amulet
Purses by Nicolette Stessin (1994).
Since then, Sig has ventured on to design more complex and bigger pieces.
Tapestries averaging 8 x 10 inches, with some as large as 20 x 15 inches brings on new challenges. These pieces
take well over 40 hours to chart, with specific attention to detail such as finish of the bead and complex
shading.
This same attention to detail is given to her jewelry pieces. They are
often life-like in detail. At Art and Wine festivals, many people comment that they thought the pieces were
photography until they came in to take a closer look to see that they were beads!
Sig’s designs have turned up at many State Fairs and won ribbons. Many of
her pieces have been bought by collectors and even the Musician Yanni owns a tapestry done especially for
him.
From the elegant to the whimsical, there are pieces that appeal to
everyone. When you buy one of Sig's pieces of art to wear, you will never see the identical piece anywhere else!
These pieces are truly for the connoisseur.
